Examination Department

This office deals with all examinations issues in the College.

They are two types of examinations done at the college;

1.Internal Exams

• This exams are set by the college lecture`s at the end of each term or stage. It contains two parts;
• C.A.Ts. which account for 30% of the total marks.
• End term/Stage exams which account for 70% of the marks.
• The end term/end stage exams are normally submitted to various examining bodies showing the progress of student while in the College.
• All this exams are processed in the exams office.

2. External Exam

This are exams administered in the college but offered by external examinations bodies.

Various bodies whose exams are administered in the college include;

• KNEC
• NITA

Entry requirement for various exams depend on the external examining body e.g

For those students who have their exams outside the country they require their certificates to be equated by the various examination bodies before entry into the college.

Industrial Liason Department

The industrial liaisons department at Turbo Technical & Vocational College has the following core functions.

1. Briefing of students proceeding on industrial attachment at any given term.
2. Issuing the students with the requirement s for attachment which include
   
   • Introduction letters to industry.
   • Insurance certificates.
   • Log books.
3. Assessment of students in the field

Our task commences when the departmental attachment coordinators furnish the department with the lists of students proceeding on attachment in a given period. After briefing the students on industry and college expectations of attachées, we proceed to prepare their insurance certificates which we procure from an external insurance provider. who on receiving the list immediately prepare the policies and post them back to us for onward delivery to the students.

The students normally seek for attachment places themselves and then send us information as to where they are attached.

PERFORMANCE AND CONTRACTING DEPARTMENT

Performance Contracting is a mandatory event that occurs between the Government of Kenya and Turbo Technical & Vocational College. Every Financial year the college signs a contract with the National Government to achieve the various key indicators as annual targets: that’s Corruption Reduction , offering Internship to youth , promotion of Local Content in Procurement & Offering Procurement Opportunities to People Living With Disabilities(PWDs), Disability Mainstreaming :- provision of Sign language Interpreter and other , Gender Mainstreaming, Prevention of HIV infections, National Cohesion and Values, National Industrial Attachment Scheme, Implementation of Presidential Directives, Implementation of the “BIG FOUR Agenda” , Resolution of Public complaint and Financial Stewardship and Discipline spearheaded through the Performance Contracting and Coordination office through a Consultative forum involving MDAs and other relevant holders.

I urge the Government to Continue sustaining the program through regular training of the Performance Contracting Coordinator and Supporting the various Government bodies to run the program..
